Hey,
So I saw that Laini Taylor had done a new years post so I thought that I would do a post like hers. You know the whole reflect on the year thingy ma gig. I’m totally going to agree with Ms. Taylor on a paragraph she wrote “I love a new year. I love a new week, even -- Mondays feel like a time for beginnings, for making new commitments, you know? So, a new year is like the emperor of Mondays, the perfect time to spiff up one's life and routines, make new routines, break some bad habits, start fresh.” I too have always been a fan of Monday’s. It annoys my friends sometimes when I’m all happy on a Monday and they just moan about having to go to classes. I enjoy learning so I just like to soak it all up and Mondays are always fun days to do that. This past year has seen to it that a lot of change has come about in my life. I got my novel published. I graduated high school. I completed a semester of college. I applied to NYU. And I’ve written over 150 pages. A fantastic year in my opinion. I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for me. I think I’m going to make a resolution right her, right now. and that will be to finish typing TSW and get it published. That’s pretty much the only thing in my life that I want drastically changed because everything else is perfectly fine with me. Any how I still have a few hours left in this year to up the page count. Haha. So enjoy the beginning your new beginnings. Start as fresh as you see fit. And have fun tonight!
Oh and Happy New Years!

P.S. I forgot check out this youtube video my brother’s friend showed him. Soooo funny.

A little bit of tid bits
Good Evening…. Well it’s actually night…..
So I’ve been really itchy to order my books for my signing I wanted to do over break and my school visits… but as it is I have yet to hear back from my publishers on getting a discount or whatev and I haven’t gotten any good ones in my email lately. As I’m sure you’ve guessed I’ve been antsy. So I decided a few things just about not. (1) I’m having my signing over spring break cause even if I ordered now it take 5-21 days for the books to get here. (2) I will not have books on me at my school visits. I’m going to take orders and money at the visits and then drop the books off at school after they’ve come in and I’ve signed them. (3) I’m sooooo excited for school visits!!
In other news I’m still writing bundles. I’m very happy cause I’m rapidly approaching the end of The Snowy Waste which means… dun, dun, dun… editing *screams*. Actually I sort of look forward to it cause I can buff up and smooth out some rough spots and perhaps add another little plot tid bit… I’m still debating on it though… because there is a huge list of pros and cons for adding it… it would be really cool but at the same time I have quite a bit going on and it might over complicate it so I’m not too sure yet. It’s rather frustrating cause I’ve rolling this idea around since this summer and well it’s the end of December so I should probably make up my mind soon. Who knows I might write it and if I don’t like it then I can take it out. One of the beauties of editing is you look it over before handing it to the publisher. But I must admit I hate editing and reviewing academic writing… that’s probably cause all my papers are on boring topics. Haha. But I’ve still got another 20 days till I have to worry about papers again. So I’m going to focus on my book! Night. Night!

Cool sites and funny story
Salut,
Okayso here’s an awesome site you’ve gotta check out… but I’ll get back to that in a second cause how I found the sight is rather a good story. The story is as much as I can remember… And I’m going to make you read the story to get to the link. Haha. Or you can just skip a head.
So a couple years ago (I was in 8th grade so it was 2005) my cousin April got married. So my mum and I flew down to Texas for the wedding and it was fun beans. But we were excited to go home because we had a connecting flight we had to catch in Milwaukee Wisconsin. We’d never been to Wisconsin and we planned on getting shirts and stuff in the airport. Basically we did and it was cool. Then we went to got wait for our plane at the gate and we saw these two redheads who looked like they were my age. We must have been standing close to them cause we heard them say something about Newark (the airport we were flying into) and something else about New Jersey. So my mum and I started talking to them. They weren’t as young as they looked (they were high school seniors cause they were four years older then I was) and they told us so. I remembered they had their driver licenses and they pulled them out to show us. Any how the crew called for people with kids to board first and my mum was like lets go see if we can get on early. So she has the red-heads come with us saying they were her nephews. It was kinda funny. So we get on the plane and their seats were across the aisle and one row behind us. There was a lady sitting in the seats directly across from my mum and I. We wanted the red heads to sit across from us so we could continue talking to them so my mum asked the lady if she could switch with the boys because they were her nephew and she was taking them back to their mum. She was nice enough to switch with them and I think she slept the whole way anyhow. We got talking to them about school and the one Matt said that he was a graphic designer and he gave me one of his business cards that I tucked into my wallet. It was a nice ride and I was working on the beginning of the snowy waste. It was still in the very early stages (less than a year). And so they asked about it and I told them a bit about it and since I had the first few pages written out nicely so I let them read it. They were the second people to ever to read it cause up till then I was soooo self conscious of it that no one had read it. When we got to Newark we parted ways cause they went to meet up with their dad and my mum and I had to get home. So just recently I was switching wallets to a much needed new one and I found matt’s business card so I thought I’d check out his sight. Needless to say I was tots def impressed with it and it’s sooo cool! So you should check it out (http://www.mattconvente.com/) and defiantly check out his Microscope project cause that’s my favorite. Matt’s photos are way good! Also check out Fluent Apparel (http://www.wearfluent.com/) it’s basically Matt’s Microscope on t-shirts! How cool right. He’s also on facebook (http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?ref=profile&id=670019788#/pages/Fluent-Apparel/114612088655?ref=sgm) so friend him!
Any how ya… I hope you like it cause I was thinking of having Matt and Spencer work together on my book covers and promotional stuff… what do you guys think? Granted it’ll be a year or so down the road before I need them but I still think it would be cool cause I love Matt’s style and Spencer’s just awesome at drawing so I think they would be great together. Anyhow I hope you like the links!

Christmas!!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
I hope you all are having as nice a day as I am. It was nice I slept in today. Usually I wake up around 6 on Christmas but for the first time ever I stayed up late on Christmas eve/ Christmas. So I woke up about 8. Very nice indeed. We did stockings in my older brother’s room then we had to wait to go down while my mum and dad got the camera set up. Over all it was such a nice Christmas so far. I tots def loved all my gifts I got some really funny ones and I gave some funny ones. Like my family got free things I picked up at school from various fairs and what not. Oh and my mum and dad gave my brothers and I a Fo-Wii. So we’re bowling and doing tennis. It’s way cool. But basically we’re all sort of just chilling out which is the best part of Christmas cause we never do anything like rushing about to people’s houses. I love it. And OH MY GOSH!! Pumpkin pie later. Pumpkin pie is pretty much the best thing ever!! I hope I get some writing today. I feel very festive and Christmasy so I think I might work on the Winter’s Night scene. Winter’s Night is basically Christmas. Haha. Oh and check out the awesome Christmas tree and cody’s in the pic. Hehe silly dog.
Anyhow. Enjoy your day!!

Library
Hihihihihihi!
So I’m way excited cause guess what!? My novel is in the library system! I had given a copy to my librarian friend at the library in town and she read it and thought it was awesome. So she put it into the system! How cool right! Click this --- LIBRARY
Plus since I’ve been home (as of Friday) I’ve written 22 pages! As of this very second… I’m still writing for today though… so yay! And I’m also excited cause I went to the graduate tea at my high school today and I got to see a bunch of my friends. It was totally fun and I enjoyed seeing all of my friends. It’s weird cause after I graduated I’ve done quite a horrible job of keeping in touch with people…. But it’s all good I suppose. I have a whole month to reconnect. Haha. Oh and I’m excited for Christmas Friday!!!! So whoot!

A Day of Typing
Hey ya,
So yesterday I spent just about the whole day (8 hours actually) typing. I got 17 pages typed! And they are fantastic! Sometimes when I write I write just to get through a crappy scene and when I’m done with it I’m like… wow that’s going to need a lot of editing. But I keep going cause I know I have to. While yesterday it was just good writing. Plus it’s getting to my favorite part in the book so I’m excited about finally being able to type it up. Today I think might be another typing day since I got soooo much done yesterday! But I wonder how much I will actually get done… my older brother, Spencer, has his friends over today and his one friend who just got back from a semester in England is ever so loud… so we shall see how it goes today. I really want to get another 17 or so pages typed. Needless to say I’m way excited about how good I did yesterday so I want to repeat it. I think I might make some green tea so I can get super hyper then type. Haha. I always write best when I’m sleep deprived or super hyper… it’s strange but always good fun. So any way I just wanted to share how much writing I did yesterday because I was very happy with myself about it.
Oh and one more thing HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUNTER!!! It’s my little brother’s birthday today...YAY!

To Read List and Pictures
Konnichiwa,
So I’m home for break!!!! Yay! This means hard core typing time!! I was so excited to be home today that I cleaned my room which is now my writing room! Whoot. And oh my goodness it’s snowing outside! Like a lot of snow, about five inches I think. I can’t wait to go sledding tomorrow. I’m such a little kid with snow. Haha. When I was cleaning my room today I realized I had a lot of books! Okay so what I also realized was I still had some book I had not read so I decided to make myself a “To Read” list for the break since I don’t go back till January 19th. So here is my list…
(1) The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy (so Ryan can stop bugging me about not reading it)
(2) The Queen of The Damned – Anne Rice
(3) Winterbirth – Brian Ruckley
(4) The Sea of Trolls – Nancy Farmer
(5) Hood – Stephen R. Lawhead
(6) Beauty – Robin McKinley
(7) The Outstretched Shadow – Mercedes Lackey and James Mallorv
So I’ll start with those and go from there. I’m so excited to be home and be done with course work!

p.s. here’s a picture of my doggies. Cody is on the left and he looks demonic with his eyes cause I couldn’t fix them. And Sidney is on the right. What cute wieners!

New Beginning
Hello ladies and gentlemen,
So I was writing yesterday and for some reason I decided that I was unhappy with the way that The Snowy Waste starts. So I was like okay I’ll think on it later I want to finish this scene first. Nope didn’t happen the beginning would not let me be so I decided to try and think around for ideas. It was a hard process so I started to pole all my friends on their favorite books and what they liked about the beginning. Out of everyone I asked three things popped up every time. (1) Fast paced (2) Foreshadowing and (3) personal touch (from a character). If you’ve read the excerpt I currently have up on my site you’ll know I’ve got 2 & 3. I naturally wanted to have all three so I tried to come up with how to make it awesome and lure in a reader because we all know that the beginning is very important. If the first ten pages are bad then no one is going to read it. As I sat in my dorm room staring at my computer screen waiting for an idea to pop in my head low and behold one did! It was fantastic I got so excited I had to explain it to my roommate and suitemate who were both chilling in the room and then I proceeded to make very happy noises and a little dance sort of thing…. Now I am quite sure they think I’m toughly insane… I will have to agree with them. Any how I got soo hyper and excited that it just made my day. so I typed during philosophy class and it was a good game. I’m so glad semester is nearly over because I hate my philosophy class it’s really boring and I’ve learned nothing… so I’m excited that I will be moving out in 8 days!! Yay! I’m just excited to go home and see the Christmas decorations, cause that’s pretty much my favorite part of the holiday is all the decorations! And I get to spend a whole month with my cute wiener dogs…. When I get a picture of ‘em I’ll post it.

New Looks
Hi again,
So in case you haven’t noticed I redid my whole blog site. It was fun. Also today I revamped my whole website so you should hop over there and check it out (http://sites.google.com/site/taylorvangclear/home). Also check out the crest on the homepage. It took me a good two hours to copy paste and just make it look nice. And also on the home page the books that have my titles and other places on the site… click ‘em. I was so proud of me cause I linked each one to the part of the sight that it says! I was just in an internet savy mood today so I fixed everything up to look nifty! So check it out!

Updateness....
Hello,
So yeah it’s been a while since I’ve blogged. I just haven’t had much to say really. It’s been business as usual with school. We’re getting ready for finals cause semester ends on the 21st. but I’m moving out of my dorm the 18th. Whoot! It’s almost Christmas time. I love Christmas… all the decorations and pretty lights. I’m a bit sad that I’m not home to help put up and decorate the tree this year…. But it’s okay I’ll have a month off of school when I do get home!! I also picked out my classes for next semester. I’m happy cause my early class will be 2:30. I over slept my T2K class again yesterday. It starts at 11 and ends at 12:15. I was in the caf eating breakfast at 1 when I was like oh… it’s Friday.. oops hope I didn’t miss anything. It’s all good. We never do anything in that class. It’s a rather dumb class to be honest. And progress has been going good on The Snowy Waste…nothing big to blog about to be honest… I’ve also started first revisions on Part on of it and that’s going fantastic. In a way I love editing but I hate it at the same time I don’t cause I hate going back and reading what I’ve written cause hands down every time I’ll hate it and find something to change. But it must be done and it helps me improve my writing. Plus I can always add more little foreshadowing hints. Muhahaha. That’s one of my things I love to do. All my books have connecting factors and things that hint at the ending. So if you pay attention you can guess what will happen in all the books just by reading the first couple. Oh and so exciting news!! It was snowing on campus yesterday! Even though it didn’t stick and made it all slushy it was still pretty. Finally some December weather!!
