After that I wandered around Parque del Retiro. I finally got to go into Palacio de Cristal.
It was just as cool as I thought it would be. From There I wandered around most of city centre.
And up to Templo De Debod. What is this temple? Well it’s an Egyptian temple in the middle of Sapin! It was in the Nile Vally and built in the 4th century BC. It was dedicated to the god Amun and the goddess Isis. The Egyptian government gave it to Spain in thanks for helping save Abu Simble. S0 they took the temple apart and put it on a ship to Valencia and it took a train to Madrid where it was reconstructed. This seems like it’s something that would have happened years abo right? Nope it was disassembled 1969 to 1970 and it was opened in 1971. It was really cool.
More wandering around Madrid ensued and I went to McDonalds to get wifi and some coffee.
From there I caught the metro back to the airport picked up my luggage and went to the café to stay up at night. I got a coffee and started to fill in my travel journal. About two in the morning I got was sooooo tired so I was like alright I’ll go find somewhere to sleep. Turns out I saw a lot of people sleeping on the luggage belts. So I was like that looks comfyish so I laid down snuggled up to my suitcase and bam I was out cold till about seven in the morning. Which was when I got up, changed and went to check in. From there it was just the normal security finding your gate and boarding then take off!!
And just like that my Eurotrip was over. I was so happy to be heading home though. I was tired and a bit sick and just wanted to sleep in my own bed. Plus I had the prospect of taking my new Manager position at Dunkin Donuts. So being home seemed like it might be fun for a while. But I still had the travel bug and I just want to travel…..
Cheers,
