Olympics/ Avoiding work

Avoiding completing my Literacy Narrative Rewrite…. So … the closing ceremony is tonight for the Olympics…. *tear* I’m gonna miss yelling at the TV about how the judges were wrong and how good America is. Hahahaha. My mum and I had what she calls “Olympic Fever”. When I was home we were so intense about it and watching it was quite loud. Even when I was watching it with my friends on campus. Haha. So mainly I’m going to miss cheering on my favorite athletes. I’d posted earlier about Apolo Anton Ohno… *sigh* he’s such a fantastic athlete and he’s such a good sport. Like when he was disqualified in the 500m (which btw he did nothing wrong) he was chill in the interview right after he said he thought it was unfair but he didn’t get all angry about it.
I would have been blowing off steam about how the judge was bias and what not. But Apolo was just classy about it. And tonight I was watching him talk about it and he was still classy about it and didn’t bitch when he has every right to. Plus when I follow him on facbook and a status of his yesterday was “Wow!!! 8!!!!! And to share it with the team makes it even more special! Yesss!! What an epic journey!!” That’s just so cool that he’s happy with everything he got at this game. We need more athletes like Apolo. And Shaun White. Can you say amazing! He’s got mad skills at snowboarding! Like seriously! And he’s only 23 that’s my brother’s age!
And he’s got his own clothing line and I’m also blown away by him cause he’s just so happy with everything that he’s won. Like when he had the half pipe finals he could have just gone right down that middle and still won but he went ahead and did his double McTwist (which was beyond epic)! So ya… just my rant on how awesome we did this year at the Olympics!

I suppose I’ve gotta finish my narrative now….

Excerptness

In honor of my fantastic editing so far I thought I’d share a wee bit from the beginning…. So here it is!!

When Neal started coming to he was bobbing up and down with the motion of a horse. But apparently he was not the only one on the horse for there was an arm around him and he could see the other one on the reigns. To add to it his head was on the persons shoulder. Neal sat upright and would have fallen off if the person’s thin muscular arm had not held him in place. Neal turned to find himself looking into light blue eyes. “I was wondering when the mud boy would wake up.” Said a girl’s voice. Neal’s eyes took in the whole of the face.

“Jamie I knew you’d fallow me!” said Neal throwing his arm around her without falling.

“We were waiting only a few human strides down the road when we saw the highway men. So we waited for the opportune moment then struck. They were taken aback so they were easily taken. Then we picked you up and we went on.”

“We, what is this we stuff. Who is with you?” Neal said.

“Tantin also known as Mr. Billy Bones.” Jamie said airily. This time Neal really fell out of the saddle.

“Ow.” He yelped as he hit the dusty road. Jamie pulled her horse, Heir, to a stop. Another two horses trotted to the other side of Neal, he sat up. When he looked up he had to shield his eyes from the sun. “Oh no! By Zantor! I’m gonna kill you Jamie I’m gonna kill you both.”

“By Billy!” Billy reached down to help Neal up but Neal fell back onto the ground and would have started hitting his head on the ground but pain shot through his spine and he sat bolt upright. “Come on. Up. Up!” Said Billy’s annoying voice.

“No I’ll die here thank you.” Neal crossed is arms like an angry child.

“Get your sorry ass up.” said Jamie clearly annoyed. She dismounted her golden chestnut gelding, walked other to Neal yanked him off the ground, picked him up and put him in the saddle of Jam. “Now we are all going to the Snowy Waste. Whether you sissies like it or not.”

“Now see here old chap” Billy started, but changed his mind after a glare from Jamie “Chappette?” He looked back at Jamie but just received a roll of her eyes. “I Sir Tantin Exyel am not a sissy! Just because I ran and hid in the bushes and screamed like a little five Elson old girl when you chopped that one’s head off does not mean that I’m a sissy.”

Behold My Outline!

Remember how I said that I was going to post my outline on my wall. Hahaha ya I spent my weekend on that. It looks pretty spiffy… don’t you think?

And it’s totally helping me although it’s still going to be tough for me to decide what I’m using as the final and what’s combining. Because right now I have about six way that I can write out the second series. So… ya. But I’m finally getting back to editing. I just took out a scene and started adding that information other places in the book cause it was took history booky in the old scene. Yup yup. And writing my fanfic is still helping me. I’ve been writing out a couple scenes for various spots in The Cycle. And I’m playing around with a few names so it may no longer be The Cycle of Zantor… but I’ll keep you up date.

Lazy Much?

Hey ya! So for some reason I’ve been feeling realllllllllly lazy lately… haven’t done much editing or anything writing in general. My literacy narrative kinda killed my buzz cause I ended up hating it and I don’t know why I care about this assignment so much… ugh. And today I went on n epic quest for a working washing machine to do long overdue laundry. Cause butt heads in my dorm broke all our machines. Grr. So Liscet and I first went to the new freshman dorms but all the machines were being used so we went to the new upper classman dorm. I’m totally in love with that laundry room. I sat and read while my stuff was in. it was amazing. But anyway what I have been doing other then laundry to convince myself I’m busy and can’t edit is reading manga. Haha. Should be doing homework… but no. between yesterday and today I read all 33 chapter of Dance In The Vampire Bund. Very good manga so far. Can’t wait for the next chapter. So ya I know major loser.

Plus I also haven’t edited cause I’m reworking the second/third series or something like that and it keeps changing and I need to hammer that our before I finish up edits so I know what I have to add in or take out. But I just came up with an idea… I’m going to write it all out on post its and put all over my dorm wall to arrange it out nicely. Whoot! Hope my roommate won’t mind… granted it will be on my side of the room so not much she can say… but it will be a looker. Haha.

Edits

I’m chillin in my suitemates room watching the oylmpics. Apolo got first in the heats! Whoot! I was excited. Any how I’m putting off finishing my literacy narrative. And guess who didn’t make an appointment to go see their English teacher for help… yup me. I just gave up cause it’s going to be a shitty essay either way and I thought I’d save my professor the pain of reading it through twice. Plus… I know it’s shitty and I figured I didn’t need to hear it from my teacher. I take to criticism with academics better in writing. Dork I know right. But on the up side I’ve plowed though some more editing and still frustrated with my early characters because they are so off from what I made them at the end. Oh silly me. But I’m fixing it and so far I’ve made cuts to the opening and added to the early scenes of the quest. So I’m excited! Oh and one more piece of awesome news I made Deans List!!!!!! YAAAAAAAY!!! I suppose I should finish up my narrative edits now……

Olympics

The Olympics are probably the coolest thing ever! I’m at home for a long weekend so I have a TV to watch it on. lol. But any how I just like to watch at how crazy young some of these people are! Like there are people competing who are my age! And I’m blown away cause it baffles my mind that they can do so good. I like the snowboarding and short track speed skating the most! Speed skating cause it’s intense and cause I love Apollo Anton Ohno. I mean come on he’s got the most chill passes like he makes it look like the easiest thing to do. Totally impressive. Plus I think he’s way cute. I mean come on! Just look at him…

Oh and I found this video on the Vancouver site and thought it was sooo cool.

Haha. Any how I’m totally looking forward to seeing him skate again this week! Plus snowboarding tomorrow! Yay!

Delayed Opening....

Hi,

Delayed openings aren’t much fun in college… they totally rocked in high school. Guess it evens out with the whole snow days being better and all. But basically this is how it goes… I get a call at 5:20 this morning letting me know that we have a delayed opening and classes won’t start till 11 o’clock. Ya waste of my time to listen to the call cause my earliest class was 2 o’clock. Gooood game. Not. So it didn’t matter to me. In high school delayed openings are fun cause you get to sleep in. I sleep in every day at college so it makes no difference to me. But campus was cleaned up quite nicely today… check out the pics.
^walking back from the dining hall^

^walking to the dining hall... at night.... i liked the lights^

^yup that's all the snow we got!^

Wish me luck on my trek to the train station in the morning… I’m going home again. I know I’m getting to be one of those losers that goes home every weekend. Haha. But after this weekend I won’t be home for a while. Plus it’s a four day weekend for me! Whoot!

Snow Day

Happy Snow Day,

Today was in fact a snow day. A very snowy snow day! And I have also come to the conclusion that snow days in college are quite different from high school ones. Mostly because everyone who is still on campus has the intense urge to run around outside. Unlike snow days back in Hunterdon county where we live so far apart that you can run around outside…. But only with your siblings. Haha. Here it was crazy people were making snowmen and what not. And there was a HUGE snowball fight on the quad. It was basically all the residence halls versus each other. Epic. I threw some good ones… didn’t hit a lot of people but ya. I also threw some/ a lot at my friends. Hehe. Anyhow just wanted to share some pics from campus.

^Right outside my residance hall^

^Looking at the tennis courts^

^Snowball fight on the quad... well some of it anyways^

^My very perfect snowball^

More pictures to come tomorrow!

Made My Night

Hey ya,

There are a few things in life that make me ever so happy. One of them is when people are honest with me about my writing. When I ask someone to read a part of my book and give me their opinion I HATE it when their reply is “It was really good.” or “I liked it.” And when I ask them what they liked about it they either don’t answer or give some stupid answer! I also hate it when people tell me what they think I want to hear like “Oh my gosh that was so good. You’re so going to be a best seller.” I smile and thank them as I make the following retort in my head. “If it was that good I wouldn’t need to edit and I could send it to any old publisher and get it first shot.” Yeah right. I know my writing needs improvement so tell so! Tell me what I need to fix. Tell me what you think is boring. I might disagree so be prepared to tell me why it’s boring. And I love the people that can. The AMAZING people that tell me just how it is. What has prompted this rant? Simple. I sent my friend Ryan the first ten pages of my manuscript and asked him to read it and tell me what he thought. He highlighted sentences that were stupid or needed rewording. He was right on each sentence. Now I would never have been able to catch that. It’s just not something I catch in my writing. And the icing on this cake that makes me want to hug this kid is the comment he puts in the email (hope it’s okay I’m posting it) “I also thought it was very fast paced and interesting, but I caution you to take risks that differentiate your tale from other stories in the fantasy genre, otherwise it becomes a tolkien rewrite, I know you know this, but try to be original, (but not stupid original) Make your world your own.” Made my f***ing night. Why can’t more people say things like that to me?

Not all my writing is shoddy..... right?

Good Evening,

So I’ve got a major task of rearranging, adding, merging, and deleting ahead of me. Why you ask? Because I came up with a FANTASTIC idea for the Final Thread Trilogy which in fact will merge the Saga of Resurrected Blood with it. On the upside I will have fewer books to write…. On another upside it’s no longer a trilogy as of this second it’s a six book series and still under recreation. Just thought I’d share cause I was excited. Oh! Oh! Oh! And I got a little peek at my own writing process… as you might remember I was frustrated with moi in the last post. But when I got this fantastic idea I started doing what I normally do with great ideas and realized…. BAM! This is part of my writing process. So I filed that info away and continued outlining. I’ve started writing a few scenes from the new series and I’m soooo happy with the way it’s going to turn out and the ending is even more epic then it was originally going to be! muhahaha. And guess what the best part about the ending is… the reader gets to use their own imagination for the true ending. Hehehehehehehe I’m so evil. But it’s so fun! And on another not so fun note…. I realized my narrative that I thought was so amazing for writing was actually very shoddy…. So I must work on it… funny cause this is the first academic writing piece I’ve actually cared about since…. Creative writing…. How sad…. So I must work on it…. But I don’t know what I’m going to do with it… deleting it and starting over is a very tempting idea I must say. I read some other people’s in class on their blogs and I was like “damn mine’s shit.” Cause they had theirs all nice and flowy and focused…. So I’m going to email my teacher to set up an appointment and have her help me out with said shoddy essay. Hopefully she can set me on the right track. So cross your finger for my narrative.

Shiny Objects

Good Evening,

Today was bundles of fun even though it did not go as planned. Now here in Jersey we got snow and quite a bit of it. It was supposed to be my mum’s surprise birthday party today that I had planned. Then I sent out a message Thursday to the people coming that if the roads were bad we would cancle. So I called my dad first thing this morning to see how much snow we received at home cause on campus we got a wee bit. Turns out we got about 8 inches so my dad said the party was off. And I was chill with that but I still wanted to go home cause I’m bored of campus on the weekend. So I went home. And come seven o’clock when the party was supposed to start guess what happens… people show up. Ya good game dad. I felt soooo embarrassed cause I had planned to make stuff but since my dad said it was off I never did. But it still turned out very good. And my mum loved it so my severe embarrassment was worth it in the long run.

Now I was originally going to post my “Writing Tunes” playlist that I’m listening to now for edits… Then I got side tracked cause my writing professor sent out feedback for our class blog and grades. Now one of the prompt we did in class had to do with our writing process and I sat there for a bit in class looking at my blank word document cause I’ve never honestly thought about my writing process. So I just started writing whatever popped into my head that I do when I write or prepare to write. In the email I received for feedback for the prompt was that she was looking for a “sherlock-holmsey observation of what you do when you write” and I loved the phrasing of it but I am beyond stumped about what to write or even look for what my process is. It’s not really something I look for when I sit to write it just happens I suppose without me noticing. So needless to say this keeps bugging me that I don’t know what my writing process is when I’m an author for cry out loud! Beyond frustrating! And every time I try to observe what I’m doing I get too caught up in edits or writing. Like I guess I have a general idea of what it is but nothing even close to what my professor is looking for I’m sure. And it keeps occupying my mind when I start to write cause I’m like what am I doing that would be my writing process. Then I get distracted like this idea is some shiny object that keeps stealing my attention from other writing tasks. Just thought I’d share how frustrating it is that I don’t know my own writing process…

Narrative and FanFic

Hey all,

Happy Friday! Yay! Okay this week was another fantastic week! And I’m totally excited cause in my writing class we have to write a literary narrative which is basically how we got to be the writer that we are today. And I sat down last night and powered through it and I think it’s fantastic although I’m not too sure what Dr. Chandler is looking for so I’m quite nervous because I just sort of wrote…… and I usually don’t do that with academic essays… so I’m nervous. Any how it’s only the rough draft so I can always go back and fix it to what she’s looking for. But I simply must share my intro paragraph because I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it.

“It only takes a single idea to change a life. One firefly in the night of your mind to illuminate a new path. A path that can bring you into the darkest depth of your mind where ideas linger on limbs waiting to be picked like a ripe apple. I ignored that path for many years, mainly because what writing was linked to in my mind and what I was taught writing was in school. When you are younger writing is strictly how you write, whether it be in cursive or print, and your grammar along with spelling. I was good at none of that so writing was something I did only if required to do so. Then it became evident that technology was intimately twined with writing and it had been so for the past years but I had not seen this. Again because of the stigma writing held in my mind. But when that stigma was left in the dirt and I took the path illuminated I found that there were more than ideas lingering in my mind. My definition of writing was in fact rewritten and someone who hated writing became one who relied on writing. It has now become something that drives me to wake up in the morning, something that makes all the misspellings worth making, something that has changed my life.” Amazing right? And for some reason I just liked the whole idea of having a forest of ideas in my head so I drew that picture of a tree of thought. Haha. Too bad I don’t have drawing skills. But I still like it. If you want to read my whooooool entire eight page narrative it’s up on my other blog as Blog 5. So yup….

Now I totally need to update you all. So remember how I told you I started my fanfic… ya so I’m still working on that between edits. And I’ve got five chapters up now. Weee. Now let me just tell you how awesome it is…. 37 reviews…. 20 Favorite Story adds….. 38 Alert adds… yay! And now I refuse to tell you what the title is or where it can be found because to be honest it’s just shoddy work. But I like it in a way cause it’s just free writing with a plot and people just tell me how amazing my writing skills are and it makes me happy but I laugh at the same time because it’s not my best. I don’t even read over the chapters…. But it’s still cool that so many people read it!

Have a stellar weekend!

New Hair

Happy Monday,

It’s Monday and I’m back at school. My dad took me back today and we went to lunch on campus and got coffee this afternoon before my class. It was very nice. That’s one thing I like about my school is the meal plan comes with two guest meals a month. This weekend was totally awesome. Mainly because I dyed my hair. Now before I had stripes::
I got tired of that and I really wanted something cool so now I’m all tie-dyed! And I wanted to share with you all my journey to awesomeness with pictures.

(1) I had to bleach my hair so I put in my bleach and wrapped it and heated it

(2) After 20 minutes I had to rinse my bleach (it looks soo weird right?)

(3) Then I was a blond!! Yay!

(4) after a few hours of blondness It was time to section off my hair for dying (tots def a cool way to style your hair)

(5) and here’s my hair after I have my colors in.

Here’s all my dyes I used. Muhahahahaha

(6) and finally the finished product!

And I love my hair it’s totally cool and I love to see people staring at it. So anyway I’m excited cause I feel cool now with all these wacky colors. I was so scared to bleach out my whole head cause I was reading stuff online about how bad it is for your hair and all. So I finally was just like whatever I’m only young once so I did it. And I’m totally happy my mum said it was all good. She told me I was an adult and I could do what I wanted with my hair. So I bleached! Muhahaha. And it was just fun.

Oh yes and Saturday I woke up at 6:00 AM so I could get ready and go to my little brother’s Mock-Trial. He was a witness it was cool. But I went and sat in the jury box for the two trials. We won the second one. Probably cause our “lawyers” the second time around just ripped the other team apart on the stand! It was pretty impressive. That was lots of fun and I will tots def go watch next year as well. It also makes me want to see if NYU has a Mock-Trial team cause that would be way cool and I’d totally do it.

So yup that was my awesome weekend.
