Feelings-sick

These last two days have been a bit shit for me. And it's been drama from home that's been bringing me down. And the fact that my dad told me that my dog Charles got out of the house and got picked up by animal control and had to get a rabies booster. It worries me there because my dog Sydney got really sick after her rabies booster and we had to put her down as a result. So I've been upset and stressed over that. And it's thrown in a tinge of homesickness to my trip.

But I was thinking about it a bit because I don't actually have a home to be homesick about. My dad is moving in a few week (before I get home) so the house I left I'll never be going back too... So I'm not really homesick for a place... I'm more Feelings-sick.

I'm homesick for that feeling of comfort of seeing your friends or cuddling up with your dogs.

I'm homesick for a familiar face and the feeling of being safe.

Now it's not to say I don't feel safe traveling because I do. But you just sleep a bit on edge when you're in a room with strangers. You know. And my dad hasn't been diligent at all about sending me puppy updates. My mum on the other had has been grand... But i really want to see Charles and Will.

And that doesn't even start to cover the whole missing Jameson thing. Because FaceTime is like a bandaid. It doesn't make the missing him easier it just makes it less while we're talking. After I have to hang up I'm mopey for a while. The same goes for talking with my mum or Kelly but well not as clingy missy.

I always get a bit of this thing called "homesick" when I travel. Sometimes it hits me early in a trip. Other times it makes the last week a teary mess for me. But this time it's hit me earlyish... or maybe it's already half way through my trip. I've been away for nearly 3 weeks now. Who knows if I'll make it another 3. I really don't know. My plans are all over the place and crazy and constantly changing. It's fun but at the same time... I just want to lay in bed and have a lazy day. Or walk around without pants on. Or stay up really late and write and not worry about missing breakfast.

I'm missing a lot of the small things right now. So I'm doing my best to do what I always do and just suck it up. I'm hoping London will set me straight. I'm headed off at 6:40 tomorrow morning for my favourite city! I'll have lunch in Trafalgar and grin like an idiot. Hopefully a good dose of London will kick my feelings-sickness for a while. And if it doesn't then at least this trip isn't forever. I'll be heading home, where ever it may be, in a few weeks.

But before I can think of home I need London. It's my unhealthy addiction... Or maybe it is healthy... well either way I love London!

12 Flights 7 Weeks: Madrid and Getafe

The next leg of my trip was going to be fraught with old housemates and epic fun! I just had to get to Spain first.

I left behind Edinburgh and my underage future husbands early in the morning. I got to Dublin at 9h15 and settled down to update my journal and drink coffee till my flight to Madrid left at 16h10. To some people such a layover would be a hassle and annoying but to me.... it was perfect. I also did a decent amount of people watching. And I discovered the most amazing Starbucks hot chocolate... Honey and Almond Hot Chocolate! Like seriously amazing. I also found a lounge slash cafe that had a great view of the planes taking off and landing and it was very exciting to watch while i worked on editing my manuscript.

My Dubling layover went swimmingly. And it was off to Madrid I went. I arrived at 19h50ish and promptly grabbed the metro into Sol. Ana had given me superb directions to where I was meeting her because she is going to school outside of Midrid city centre so I had to take the metro to the city then hopped on another train to Getafe. When I got to the station it was off to meet up with Ana and I was so freaking excited!

I found Ana with 0 problems. It was a slightly tearful reunion. We then headed back to her flat where we ate yummy food, drank sangria and hung out.

The next few days were filled with struggling to make an American Thanksgiving in Spain. Thank god there was an "American Store" right down the street.

It was seriously the funniest things because yes it was all American things but they were way expensive. Like a can of Campbell's soup was about $3 conversion rate. But we needed it for the green bean casserole. It was all so tasty! Don't tell my mum (or she'll want me to make it) but i made stuffing from scratch!

We made the pie from scratch!!

Ana took me to El Escorial. It's the palace of King Phillip II. It was also a monastery. The cathedral was really lovely and the library was amazing!! The architect  Juan Bautista de Toledo had also worked on Saint Peter's in Rome. So to say that the place was pretty is an understatement.

And CHRISTMAS MARKETS!!!!!!! We went into Madrid city centre for the Christmas Market and to see the lights. It wasn't the best Christmas Market but it was better then nothing! Plus Madrid looked so cute decked out in Christmas lights!

I got to see the Getafe Cathedral. It's a bit plain on the outside but still charming I think.

Ana still had classes during the week so I was lucky to get the alone time. I got a lot of writing and Editing done. I also drank a lot of coffee.

And saw a rainbow.

It was a great few days in Getafe with Ana. I loved bing able to catch up on everything. I even got to meet her boyfriend via skype. It was also this point in my trip that my mum sent me the cutest picture of my puppies. She got them matching sweaters!!!!!!

It really made me miss them. But I still had four more stops before heading home. And my next stop was Barcelona to see Lenka and Damien. And I got to take the train!!

New Puppies!

Day 2 Blog Challenge::

So I’ll keep this blog short since I’m off to south Jersey for the rest of the weekend. I’m headed down to stay with Spencer because I have a tattoo appointment tomorrow afternoon!! I’m pumped for that.

I will include lots of pictures to make up for the lack of content. We got new puppies last weekend. Now when I say puppies I mean 3 and 4 year olds. But I call all my dogs puppies, even Cody who’s 16.

We rescued them from the Bucks County Doxie Rescue. It’s the same place we rescued Sydney and Cody from. We brought all our cuties along. Cody, Charles and Will.
^Will^

^Cody^

^Charles^

See cute puppies right?

You’ve got to bring your pets to mingle with the new dogs to make sure that they get along. Cody wasn’t 100% in love with Charles and Will when we got them originally. But when we brought the three into meet the new pups they all got along swimmingly. So Posy and Angus came home with us.

^Posy^

^Angus^

They are so effing tiny! Posy weighs 8 pounds right now and Angus is barely 10! Soooo small. They sleep with me in bed so when they both cuddle up next to me they take up almost no space. So obviously since they are so cute we had to do a photo shoot! Okay I’ll admit it was more then one…. I just had to since we now have 5 cute puppies!
