A Medley of Recent Events

What have I been up to lately? I’ve been up to a decent amount of this and that. So strap in and be ready for a nice long post of… everything really. Pictures, Music, and lots of words!

First things first I’d like to rant on and on about...

the Coast Guard. I got my ASVAB scores back. I scored an 87!! Turns out that means I can do any job in the Coast Guard that I want. I’m going to stick with Operation Specialist because I think I’d never get bored. Each case would be different and just as exciting as the last. What does an OS do? Well on my sheet it says “The primary duties range from search and rescue and law enforcement execution to combat information canter and intelligence operations.” Pretty cool right? My recruiter is also an OS so he’s been able to tell me a lot about the job. He also told me I get to go to Petaluma California for my OS A School. That’s super exciting for me, I’ve never been to the west coast. It gets even cooler, Petaluma is an hour north of San Francisco.  EPIC! And there’s a lot I’ll be able to explore out there when I have time off. Then after about 7 months of A School I get sent off to my first post! I can’t tell you how excited I am. And since my scores were really good and I don’t have medical issues it makes me pretty cool…. I think. Haha. But my recruiter wants me shipped by October which means I need to be done with basic before then sooooo since Basic Training is 8 week I’ll be leaving soon for that and oh man is that mind boggling. I’ll be done with this life style and moving onto a new path. Check out this video about basic… for some reason when I watch it it makes me inspired and even more excited about leaving.

An added bonus of going to see my recruiter is the fact that he’s in Manhattan aka New York City aka one of my most favorite places. This means when I go in to see him I get to spend that day in the city with my mum after I sign papers and what not. The first time we just did the normal wander around the city eat sushi and just enjoy our selves. Oh and take a lot of pictures

We also went to the native American Museum.

But I suppose that should be a blog of it’s own. It’d make this one way too excessively long. But I will tell you it was pretty interesting.

The second time we went in which was last Wednesday I got to sign lots and lots of papers. A tad boring but I’m a few steps closer to being off on a new adventure. After that we grabbed a cab to Sheridan Square found some lunch and hit up a metaphysical store. I got some nifty stones… hmm maybe I should blog about my stones… maybe. Any how after that we started walking up town.

Here’s where it gets epic. My mum has been say how she want to see Jesus Christ Superstar. So we looked up the matinee times. 2:00pm. We were at 28th street and I googled the theater… we had to get to 52nd street in about 23 minutes. I look at my mum and I’m like we going for it? And she obviously said yes. So we booked it to the theater. Got there at legitimately 1:59pm walked to the ticket window asked if they still had tickets for the show. We buy our last minute tickets for a total of $175 we go in to sit and this is what we see

EPICNESS!! We were in the first row of the mezzanine. We’d barely settled into our seats when the lights went down and it started. It was so amazing. Check out some of these videos. Josh Young who plays Judas has an amazing voice!

Hopefully I’ll be going back into the city this week!

And now onto some writing stuff. Remember I had my first book published by Publish America when I was a senior? Well…. About those royalties… I never got paid. So I’m getting my rights back. I’d really like to rant on about how angry I am at Publish America but that’s childish… so I’ll just leave you with the fact that I’m super angry with them. When I’ve signed all the paperwork and I officially own my novel rights again I plan on doing more edits (as it’s a rather bland book) and I’m going to release it again as an Ebook. So good news to people who have a hard copy… it’s the only hard copy ever. Cheers!

Also on the Ebook tangent. I’m reworking Entangled Fates a bit and that too is going to come out as an Ebook soon. So stay tuned! I’m really super excited about this all! And it’s nice to be back in the swing of writing and editing. I really got kicked out of the rhythm for a while.

Plus remember Crimson Clashed with Ivory? I’ve also been doing serious work on it. I’ve just been pounding through chapters. For me the part that makes it fun is the fact that the places I’m having them Hunt in are places I’ve been. Like Limerick, Ireland. Rome, Italy. And I’ve got a few of my friends playing roles… like my Spanish Sister has a leading role in Limerick. It makes it easy to write when I base parts of my characters off friends because I simply think “What would they say in this situation?” And at da hilarious monologues.

While I write I like to listen to music. Here are a few of the songs I’ve been listening too.

^We Are Young by Fun.^

Catch Up!

Oops… sorry I’ve been bust and I know I promised a list a day… so I’ll make up with posting the lists at the end. I have other stuff to catch you up on first. Mainly last Friday I had my visit at Voorhees. It went reallllly good. I read from A Colorless Myth and then I explained about publishing then I did Q&A. Now let me tell you I talked to a senior creative writing class so most of the kids knew me from when I went to school. And when I first started the Q&A no one raised their hand, it was probably for just a few seconds but it felt like hours for me and I started to panic/ come up with more stuff to talk about. Then a girl raised her hand and after that it went awesomely. It made me so happy. I was so happy cause someone asked me about my Series and so I had a small rant on that and it was fun. The forty minute class period went super fast. Like I was afraid going in that I wouldn’t have enough material to cover the whole time but it was just enough time. And my signing is this Saturday!!!!!!! I’m excited but a bit nervous too…. So I’m crossing my fingers that it goes well. Also I can’t find my camera charger!!!! So I don’ know if I’ll have pictures of it! Eek! So I’m going to search the house when I get home Friday cause it’s not in my dorm. Ugh! I hope I find it.

And I’ll be home this weekend for my signing obviously, but also my family and I are going to the Met Friday night for an opera! It’s a German one called Der Fliegende Holländer. Or in English the Flying Dutchman! I’m way pumped! And oh my gosh I was just trying to find a cool picture of the opera or something and I just noticed this! It’s written by Richard Wanger and I just had my Nazi Era Germany class and we had read one of Wagner’s essays earlier this semester! Oh my goodness this is so cool! It makes me even more excited.

Fun Post

Okie dokie… I’ve been slacking lately with blogs. But I’ve been busy with getting my application finished up for NYU. I just need Kean to stop being dumb! Grr. But it’s all good spring break start tonight at after my late bio class. My mum is being nice and coming to pick me up! Whoot! I’m pretty pumped for the break I get to go home and relax and sleep in and not have a loud roommate wake me up at 10:30 in the morning! I'm also going to redo my website! Yay! I also plan on doing a butt load of edits and I’ll be finishing my Writing Process Narrative. A rough draft is due today… ya I’m stumped about a page in… I’ve got a bunch of free writing we did in class and blogs we posted but I can’t seem to pull it all together. Plus It’s hard to try and look at my writing process and still write without getting distracted and I can’t come up with the type of deep thoughts my professor if looking for. So it’s annoying especially since all I do is write. Any how BIG BIG news! I got in my books (all 200 of them) for my sighing I’m setting up in a few weeks. As soon as I get a date I’ll post it I promise. So I’m waaay excited about that. I’m also excited cause last weekend when I was home I bought two new albums, Kutless – It is Well and Sidewalk Prophets – These Simple Turths. I totally love them! And Bullet For My Valentine’s new album Fever comes out April 27! I sooo cannot wait! Their song they have out Begging For Mercy totally rocks!

And I was looking at my friend’s Facebooks yesterday and my brother had posted this cover on his friend’s wall. I laughed my butt off.

So yup… I think that’s just about all that’s new…

A little bit of tid bits

Good Evening…. Well it’s actually night…..

So I’ve been really itchy to order my books for my signing I wanted to do over break and my school visits… but as it is I have yet to hear back from my publishers on getting a discount or whatev and I haven’t gotten any good ones in my email lately. As I’m sure you’ve guessed I’ve been antsy. So I decided a few things just about not. (1) I’m having my signing over spring break cause even if I ordered now it take 5-21 days for the books to get here. (2) I will not have books on me at my school visits. I’m going to take orders and money at the visits and then drop the books off at school after they’ve come in and I’ve signed them. (3) I’m sooooo excited for school visits!!

In other news I’m still writing bundles. I’m very happy cause I’m rapidly approaching the end of The Snowy Waste which means… dun, dun, dun… editing *screams*. Actually I sort of look forward to it cause I can buff up and smooth out some rough spots and perhaps add another little plot tid bit… I’m still debating on it though… because there is a huge list of pros and cons for adding it… it would be really cool but at the same time I have quite a bit going on and it might over complicate it so I’m not too sure yet. It’s rather frustrating cause I’ve rolling this idea around since this summer and well it’s the end of December so I should probably make up my mind soon. Who knows I might write it and if I don’t like it then I can take it out. One of the beauties of editing is you look it over before handing it to the publisher. But I must admit I hate editing and reviewing academic writing… that’s probably cause all my papers are on boring topics. Haha. But I’ve still got another 20 days till I have to worry about papers again. So I’m going to focus on my book! Night. Night!

Library

Hihihihihihi!

So I’m way excited cause guess what!? My novel is in the library system! I had given a copy to my librarian friend at the library in town and she read it and thought it was awesome. So she put it into the system! How cool right! Click this --- LIBRARY

Plus since I’ve been home (as of Friday) I’ve written 22 pages! As of this very second… I’m still writing for today though… so yay! And I’m also excited cause I went to the graduate tea at my high school today and I got to see a bunch of my friends. It was totally fun and I enjoyed seeing all of my friends. It’s weird cause after I graduated I’ve done quite a horrible job of keeping in touch with people…. But it’s all good I suppose. I have a whole month to reconnect. Haha. Oh and I’m excited for Christmas Friday!!!! So whoot!
